Born under the vast, unending skies of the Azim Steppe, Yumiko Zaph Vahri, a proud descendant of the Vahri tribe, Known for their fierce independence and unwavering will, was born into the world. The Vahri thrived on the edges of the Steppe’s rolling plains, their lives shaped by the rhythms of nature and the traditions of their ancestors. From a young age, Yumiko stood out among her peers, her unrivaled affinity for the elements matched only by her uncanny ability for combat.Though she grew up amidst the Steppe’s ceaseless struggles, Yumiko’s heart was kind and noble, treating everyone and everything with compassion. During harsh winters, she would sacrifice her food supplies for others who were less fortunate. She even once saved an injured falcon from a fierce predator. She took on the mantle of a warrior early, training tirelessly with her tribe’s arcane secrets and learning the art of survival.Yumiko’ destiny changed on the eve of her twentieth summer. While leading her tribe’s warriors against the Banners of the Garlean empire, she and her companions were caught and her entire tribe was enslaved or killed. Yumiko managed to escape the carnage yet not intact. While running, she slipped into a canyon. Once she woke up, she uncovered a crumbling ruin—a remnant of an ancient, forgotten civilization from another shard. Drawn to the whispers emanating from deep within, Yumiko ventured into the darkness.What she found inside the ruins was shadows of people who used to be, emitting negative energies. Amongst the shadows was a Crystal that was different from the rest, it was powerful.Yumiko’s approach disturbed the Crystal, and the entity within, awoke with a hunger that spanned millennia. It lashed out at Yumiko, its dark tendrils seeping into her body through her injuries she sustained, it possessing her as a new host.The voidsent wasn’t able to fully possess Yumiko’s indomitable spirit. The voidsent kept trying, yet Yumiko’s willpower became a beacon in the darkness yet despite this, the corruption didnt leave her untouched. Her arms and legs became corrupted and her eyes and hair changed. Yumiko’s connection to the aether and life stream was also massively damaged.The voidsent and Yumiko forged a uneasy bond, Yumiko becoming both a host and jailer to the voidsent. The voidesent within her soul, granted her immense power in exchange for its survival, but its influence was a constant threat.Due to her broken connection with the aether, she could no longer harness the arcane without the entity taking control of her, instead she chose to take up the art of the Gunbreaker, after meeting a group of rebels, resisting the garleans in the frontlines of bozja.Over time, Yumiko learned to harness the voidsent’s dark gifts. Her gunblade techniques evolved, infused with otherworldly strength and precision. She could channel The voidsent’s Dark energy into devastating attacks, but every use brought her closer to losing control. She developed Medicine to help counteract the symptoms of her aether deficiency and the voidsent’s constant hunger for aether.With no tribe to call home, She sought knowledge of the voidsent and ways to either purge it from her soul or better control its power. Her travels brought her into conflict and companionship, and her skills as a gunbreaker—enhanced by the Voidsents gifts—earned her both renown and infamy.Yumiko walks a fine line between light and shadow. Some worship her as a hero, but some spite her as a blight. Every victory comes at a cost. The voidsent’s presence is a constant reminder of her tenuous grasp on her humanity.
